Apple plans to introduce significant improvements to the imaging section of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is expected to introduce a super-telephoto periscope lens to increase optical zoom with a focal length of more than 300mm.
The company led by Tim Cook is planning the presentation of the next generation of its smartphone, which will be the iPhone 15, of which some features have already been known through various reports.
Among them, are improvements in its battery, which will consume 35% less energy compared to the current model and will extend its autonomy, or the novelties in the ultra-broadband chip to improve the ecosystem with the new Vision Pro viewfinder, presented in June.
Improvements:
Even though the next iPhone has not yet seen the light of day, the specifications of what will be its successor, the iPhone 16 and, more specifically, its camera, are already being known, according to what Digital Chat Station has advanced through Weibo and that have been compiled by media such as Macrumors.
In this framework, this portal has indicated that the most advanced model of this new generation, iPhone 16 Pro Max, will incorporate a super telephoto periscope camera, which will allow the optical zoom distance to be increased by more than 300 mm.
This novelty would imply a notable improvement in the Apple smartphone camera since the telephoto lens of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Pro models have a focal length of 77 mm. That is, the company plans to achieve a focal length capable of increasing its capacity by 223 mm more.
The telephoto lens is commonly used to take photos in moving environments, such as sporting events or photographs of animals in the wild. In addition, they are essential for portrait photography, since it manages to isolate background noise and center the image on the main point of the portrait.
In fact, according to this information, the sensors will be 12% larger than in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, which have a 1/1.28-inch sensor. In this sense, it is pointed out that this aspect is not expected to change in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
When is the right time to sell an iPhone before it loses its market value?
Even though the iPhone is a device that stands out for having great performance along with the ability to take high-quality photos, the passage of time and use causes the device to lose power and work more slowly.
This situation forces the user to learn to establish what is the ideal moment to change their phone for a more powerful device.
The arrival of a new model, such as the iPhone 15, which would occur in September of this year, is also a factor that drives many users to change their devices. In this sense, the SellCell portal announced the “perfect” date to sell the iPhone.

The aforementioned portal highlights a series of elements to take into account, to attribute the value of an iPhone from previous generations. However, it is estimated that in certain cases you may lose up to 65% of the smartphone‘s suggested retail price.
As it is, during the four weeks leading up to the launch of a new iPhone, the value of existing phones would lose value considerably. Proof of this is that in 2021, 28 days before the launch of the iPhone 13, the price of the iPhone 11 and 12 decreased by 60.6%.
A similar case occurred in 2022, where the value of the iPhone 12 and 13 depreciated by about 65.0% 28 days before the iPhone 14 launch date.
