It was one of the most obvious candidates and its presence at the Apple event on March 8 has been confirmed: the Cupertino company has announced the new iPad Air , which is renewed after more than a year and a half since its last version, launched in September 2020 .
If the 2020 version brought the passage to USB-C and a design language until then reserved for the Pro, with a reduction in frames, although keeping Touch ID on one side without incorporating Face ID, the fifth generation of the iPad Air brings As a great novelty the inclusion of the M1 chip as last-minute rumors suggested. According to Apple, it allows a performance that doubles that of the previous iPad Air.

The front camera grows to 12 megapixels with 4K video recording and is finally compatible with the Center Stage function that allows you to place the subject in the center of the image, something useful in video calls. 5G connectivity is also released , a pending issue on the iPad Air to date.
Apple has focused its brief presentation on the capabilities that the M1 gives to graphic and multimedia performance, including games, as well as new features more from iPadOS 15 than from its hardware news. One aspect of its hardware that has been renewed is its USB-C port, which doubles its speed and supports transfers of up to 10 Gb/s , a novelty designed for importing photos or videos and any type of file at much higher speeds.
It is compatible with the second-generation Apple Pencil and the Magic Keyboard, and with the recent additions it is much closer, perhaps too close, to the iPad Pro, which awaits a renewal that allows them to distance themselves from this new 11-inch competitor.
